  1. Celebrating Advent with my wife.
  2. Finding/creating/purchasing a Mac in order to begin iPhone app development. Seth Hanson gave me a good idea for an app. Other ideas include: Bethel media access, Netflix management (PhoneFlicks search is not working well lately). Purchased a few books to help me learn: Cocoa Programming for Max OS X, Beginning iPhone 3 Development
  3. Also, on recommendation from John Piper and Mark Driscoll, I’m reading Sailhammer’s The Meaning of the Pentateuch.
  4. Developing a tool to train and equip small group leaders to share the Gospel more times this year than last. I’m working with Dave Dawson on this.
  5. Cafe Resonate: Tighty Whitey 4 is coming up on Thursday, December 17. Looking for a few people within Resonate who will share their testimony that evening.
  6. Although I’m not specifically working on this one, my wife, Hannah, is pregnant! I suppose we are working on our marriage and according to On Becoming Baby Wise, a strong husband-wife relationship is the first and most important ingredient for raising healthy children.
  7. I just activated my Google Wave account.
  8. Ordered Windows 7 Ultimate.

Jesus is not there. He is not dead.

God has been impressing upon me the importance and centrality of the Gospel. Colossians 1:21 and following talks about those who did evil deeds but have now been reconciled, if indeed, they continue in the faith, stable and steadfast.

A few years ago while studying this passage, I realized that the Gospel is not just for “beginner” Christians. It is part of the daily identification with Jesus so that I can kill sin and pursue righteousness.

Here are a few of the mediums God is using to show me the importance and centrality of the Gospel:

  1. Grace Baptist Church » 15 Gospel-Saturated Book Recommendations – Kevin Larson alerted me to this blog post. It’s a great list of books that promote the Gospel.
  2. The Gospel Coalition conference. I’m attending it in April with Seth Hanson and Todd Billow. I plan to come back and write several sermonettes on the Gospel, like “The Gospel and free time,” and “The Gospel and food,” and “The Gospel and Fear.”
  3. John Piper’s blot post “Never let the Gospel get smaller.” A great, short read. I appreciate his concise writing.

Within the last week, I’ve learned of 3, maybe 4, churches that are studying Revelation:

  1. Bethel Church
  2. Clifton Baptist Church
  3. Calvary Chapel, Tri-Cities
  4. Crossview (this is the maybe…I heard from a friend that there is a Tuesday Bible study about Revelation)

What am I to make of this? Well, other than the fact that several churches are studying Revelation, I’m not sure what to make of it.
