CMS Day 2 – Why Theology Matters

Knowing God takes more work than knowing our instrument.
Theology helps us from taking Scripture out of context.
Bob is answering objections to studying theology:
It’s complicated
People argue about it
Knowledge puffs up
We will never know everything
David Wells- courage to be Protestant
Theology matters because:
You are already a theologian
so, read, study, meditate on the Bible
God reveals Himself primarily through words and not music.
Truth outlasts tunes.
“given the amount of time I spend practicing my bass, you’d think God reveals Himself through it”
It makes me a better muscian.
theology teaches us that worship is about more than music.
It teaches us that Jesus is better than music. Music can’t bring us into God’s presence, Jesus did! Music isn’t the mediator between God and man.
